An abundance of new music

It’s been a crazily busy few months here; here are a few of the albums I’ve had the pleasure of either fully producing or having a few tracks on. As always, several more in the pipeline!

Sync Highlights for September

September has been a great month for placements, not to mention eclectic. It’s lovely to have had my music feature on both ‘Cook and Share with Mary Berry’, and ‘All Elite AEW Wrestling: Rampage’ (!)

New production music albums released

I’ve had the pleasure of contributing to a bunch of new albums recently, published by fantastic libraries KPM, Reliable Source Music, Felt Music and London Sync.

These include electronica, sprightly modern classical music and indie rock. As always, plenty more on the way (it’s been a very busy few months!).

New work for Gucci

It was great to work with animation virtuoso Dave Packer (aka Sheep Films) over the last few weeks, for a series of short, surreal promo films for Gucci .

I’ve worked with Dave on projects for at least a decade now, and his whimsical and frequently bizarre films are always a pleasure to provide music and sound for. This was no different; Dave was tasked with creating 5 endlessly looping animations - here’s one of them on Gucci’s Instagram feed (and I’m not sure when/if/where the others will appear!).

October Sync Highlight - Foxy's Fearless 48 Hours With...

I was really chuffed to find that several of my guitar-based tension cues have been used in new Channel 4 series Foxy’s 48 Hours With, in which celebrities are put through their paces in gruelling physical challenges by former SAS tough-guy Jason ‘Foxy’ Fox.

This first episode saw comedian Rob Delaney bungee off a viaduct and other not-at-all-terrifying stuff. Here are a few clips on my Instagram

April Sync highlight - The Sky at Night on BBC4

I was honoured to find that one of my new Lomea tracks was used on the introduction to Sunday night’s episode of The Sky at Night, on BBC4!

It's an institution which has been on TV since the 50s, and I used to love watching it as a kid when Patrick Moore was at the helm, so it's great to be connected in some small way.

The track is Drifts, from my new EP of the same name released on EMI Production Music earlier in the year and the clip can be found on the Lomea Facebook page.

New Lomea release on EMIPM

Delighted to share this new EP I’ve done for EMI Production Music, called Drifts. It’s part of the KPM Shorts series, released online a few weeks back but has just come out on Spotify and other platforms. Really proud of this one! I had creative carte blanche which was really gratifying and I like to think it’s probably the best sounding bunch of tracks I’ve made yet. I painted the cover too.

NEW WORK: o2 Sonic Logo

Delighted to share that I’ve composed the new sonic logo for O2, to be used across all ad campaigns, social media, in concert venues and basically everywhere that an o2 logo is seen and heard.

I created dozens of variation logos (some of which can be seen/heard here) as well as a full-length track, a brand theme for which various elements of the logo were taken and expanded upon to create a 2 minute piece.

The concept was to reimagine the human breath in sound and music, and I had a blast working on it with agency Massive Music

New album for April

Fresh off the press is a new album I’ve made for Felt Music, ‘Mallet Tension Beds’.

It’s the first album I’ve done for Felt for quite some time. They were the first library I started working with almost a decade ago, so it’s been nice to get back in touch and work with them again. The album is pretty much what it says on the tin; mallet instruments (marimbas, glocks, celestes etc) with an assortment of guitars, percussion and synths. All very driving and upbeat in various ways; some moody and serious, others more light-hearted.

New albums for Spring and TV syncs

It’s been busier than ever these past few months (how the hell is it nearly April, for crying out loud?). I’ve been beavering away in the studio recording / mixing various things and have had a few new releases come out since I last posted one of these. They are;

Organic Electronica, published by No Sheet Music

Tangents 2, published by J W Media Music (a follow up album to 2018’s first Tangents album)

Atmospheric Tension, published by No Sheet Music

Glad to say that a few tracks from Organic Electronica have been proving popular on the BBC and other broadcasters, with All Neurons Firing being placed in various BBC News segments (like Click) and also on CBS News in New York. Elegant Symmetry has been used on a recent episode of Countryfile, too.

Meanwhile I’ve been fortunate enough to have tracks placed on Dispatches (Channel 4), The Voice of Finland (Nelonen), The Hairy Bikers’ Chocolate Challenge (Channel 5), Deadly 60 (BBC1), Warship: Life at Sea (Channel 5) and Blue Peter (CBBC).

As ever, tonnes of new stuff in the works and some very exciting non-library work to share soon too. Watch this space!

Classical Remix album

It’s been a busy and productive Summer, and here’s a new album for No Sheet Music (my third for them this year so far); Classical Remix.

The title is probably self explanatory, but it’s a collection of electronic reinterpretations of (extremely) well known classical pieces. Canon in D, Claire de Lune and other earworm melodies from the ages. Really had a lot of fun putting this one together, not done anything like it before. For the most part, these are very different from the original pieces, just using the notes as a basis really (instead of just putting a house beat underneath a load of MIDI strings or whatnot.)

Anyway here’s the album

Many more album projects in the works; either in actuality or as concepts in my head. Watch this space!

New albums released for May

This month sees the release of 2 new albums.

Firstly, Percussive Underscores on No Sheet Music.

This is an album based around marimbas, celestes, glockenspiels and similar instruments but fleshed out with all manner of guitars, synths, strings and percussion. Perfect for anything where a bit of light tension is needed!

The second is an album of bright, summery guitar indie called Guitar Sunrise for which I contributed 6 tracks, for Reliable Source Music.
